Listing of Collaborative Technologies

A Listing of Collaborative Technologies with some comments. It is a listing of the tools/technologies that I have used.

  • Delicious (http://delicious.com) – Save URL’s or bookmarks. Tag bookmarks with user created terms. Organize bookmarks by tags. Web-based. Access URL’s with internet access. Can download saved URL’s or bookmarks. Share URL’s or bookmarks with others in networks or with fans.
  • Wikis (http://pbwiki.com) – Web-based wiki application. Create multiple wikis. Create pages, update pages, link to pages and media. Manage access.
  • Wikispaces (http://www.wikispaces.com/) – Web-based wiki application. Create multiple wikis. Create pages, update pages, link to pages and media. Manage access.
  • Google Documents (http://docs.google.com) – Web and browser based document folder. Upload files (Word document, PowerPoint presentation, Excel spreadsheets) to application. Edit files using GUI. Share files, monitor access, revert to previous version.
  • Ning (http://ning.com) – Social networking site, group discussions forums, moderator/administrator roles, member roles. Focus on creating community or network organized around specific or shared topic. Collaborative and shared spaces.
  • Google Sites (http://sites.google.com) – Web-based wiki application. Create multiple wikis. Create pages, update pages, link to pages and media. Manage access.
  • Webnotes (http://webnotes.net) – Create annotations on and for web pages. User based annotations, highlights. Create pages and folders around topics. Share page annotations. Create “report” or PDF of webnote page. Web based application with browser extension (Firefox).
  • Diigo (http://diigo.com) – Create and annotate web pages using web-based, browser based application. Web based application with browser extension (Firefox).
  • Loosestitch (http://loosestitch.com) – Online web based collaborative space. Upload or create outline file, share with collaborators, track changes.
  • DoingText (http://doingtext.com/) – Online web based collaborative space. Upload or create text file, share with collaborators, track changes.
  • EssayMap (http://www.readwritethink.org/materials/essaymap/) – Create web-based essay outline. Print map/outline.
  • SlideShare (http://www.slideshare.net/) – Upload, share presentations. Tag presentations with keywords, description. Allow presentations to be downloaded. Comment on presentations, number of views of presentations.
