Digital, Digitized and Available EVERYWHERE

The new digital frontier is shifting the landscape for teaching and learning. No longer is the landscape restricted to a specific time and place. Digital content can be accessed anywhere there is a connection, and anywhere there is a device capable of viewing the content. As the digital media changed, and changes, the technology changed and continues to change.
  • Has the technology changed in response to the digital media? or
  • Has the digital media changed in response to the technology?
The digital frontier has allowed us to grow knowledge, to share knowledge, and ultimately to create new knowledge. "... learning has always had one foot firmly planted in the production of knowledge and the other in disseminating and enabling access to such knowledge" (Bonk, 2009, p. 65) (EMPHASIS ADDED). The new technology is our tool to accomplish these ends. The new media becomes the means to achieve these ends. Whether the technology has caused this to happen or the new media has required this to happen is ultimately a rhetorical question. Change is a part of being digital, and digital lifestyle exists to change.
